A British woman who died bungee jumping in Spain while her aunt watched has been named locally as Kleyo De Abreu.
The tragic 23-year-old, from London, was killed at around 3pm yesterday in Lanjaron, Granada.
Spanish cops in Granada said: "The dead woman is a British 23-year-old from London called Klyo De Abreu.
"She was staying with her aunt for a few days and that relative was present when the tragedy occurred at the Tablate Bridge in the Alpujarras area.
"When emergency services arrived the deceased was still hanging from the rope.
"Although it is too early to draw any conclusions about the circumstances of the death, one of the lines of inquiry is that there was a miscalculation with the rope."
According to Ms De Abreu's Facebook profile, she had moved to Brixton, south London, in March.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national in Granada, Spain, yesterday.
"We are liaising with the Spanish authorities and have contacted the family to offer support at this difficult time."
Tablate Bridge has a drop of 80 metres and is a popular bungee jumping site used by several adventure sports firms.
Thrill-seekers fall for about 20 metres and swing underneath the bridge, with a first jump offered for around 35 euro.
One website claims that bungee jumping from the bridge is a "hair-raising" experience due to the closeness of the ravine walls during the fall.
Another boasts: "If you want a huge dose of adrenaline this is your bridge."
Lanjaron lies about 35 miles from Granada and is the first town in the western Alpujarras people reach when travelling from the beautiful southern Spanish city.
It is considered the gateway to the region and is famous for its mineral water which is sold throughout Spain.
The area is popular with expats and the hippy village of Orgiva, where people with alternative lifestyles from all over the world congregate, is close by.
Last month a French woman aged 28 was killed and her boyfriend critically injured following a tandem bungee accident in Audincthun, near Calais.
